Dr. Toshar Taneja is a leader in general and cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics. He has extensive experience in orthodontics. Known for his calm demeanor and meticulous approach, he uses digital tools and technologies combined with advanced restorative techniques to ensure exceptional clinical results. Sensitive to his patients’ needs, he involves them throughout the treatment planning process to help educate them and put them at ease.
Dr. Taneja is passionate about restoring his patients’ smiles through cosmetic bondings and porcelain restorations that are both precise and esthetic. Known for his calm demeanor and meticulous approach, he combines modern digital technology with advanced restorative techniques to provide highly individualized care. He believes patients should be active participants in their treatment and takes the time to explain their options, answer questions, and help them feel comfortable throughout the process. “My aim as a dentist is to always get the most natural looking result,” he says. “I feel most satisfied when patients are unable to differentiate between a restoration and their own teeth, whether with direct composite bondings, porcelain crowns or veneers.”
Prior to moving to the United States, Dr. Taneja practiced as a general dentist and orthodontist in New Delhi, India.
His interest in dentistry began early, inspired by the dentist whose practice was next to his father’s medical clinic. He admired the dentist’s calm, professional approach, the personal relationships he developed with his patients, and his commitment to providing high-quality care. Those qualities continue to influence Dr. Taneja’s own approach to dentistry today.
Dr Taneja is highly regarded for his orthodontic skills using fixed orthodontics and other modalities like Invisalign. Building on his extensive background in clinical orthodontics, he takes into account the entire occlusal scheme (TMJ, muscles and teeth) to deliver comprehensive oral care and holistic smile design. His focuses on creating personalized treatment plans that support long-term function as well as esthetics.
He is particularly passionate about restoring smiles through cosmetic bonding and porcelain restorations, including crowns and veneers. His goal is always to achieve results that look and feel as natural as possible, with careful attention to both function and esthetics.
As a dedicated practitioner, Dr. Taneja strives to continually increase his knowledge and understanding of the masticatory system. In 2019, he completed advanced clinical training at The Dawson Academy focused on functional occlusion and esthetic excellence. Dr. Taneja says, “The desire to continuously refine my craft combined with my unwavering commitment to quality propels my personal and professional growth.”
Outside the Office
After living in Boston, Dr. Taneja chose to make Washington, D.C., his home because he was drawn to the energy of the city, the diversity of its residents, and the balance it offers between the amenities of a major city and a more manageable scale. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys traveling and experiencing the culture and food of Washington and the many cities he visits. He especially enjoys discovering the restaurants and local experiences that make each destination distinctive.
One fun fact about Dr. Taneja is that he is both a left-handed and right-handed dentist. Patients may occasionally notice him moving from one side of the chair to the other during different parts of a procedure.

Prior to moving to the United States, Dr. Taneja practiced as a general dentist and orthodontist in New Delhi, India where he earned the distinction of Member Orthodontist from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland. After moving to the U.S., he received his DMD degree from Boston University’s Goldman School of Dental Medicine and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. More recently, Dr. Taneja became a Scholar of The Dawson Academy.
Dr. Taneja is committed to continually expanding his clinical knowledge. His advanced training has included a particular focus on functional occlusion and esthetic dentistry, and he has an ongoing interest in further study of temporomandibular disorders (TMD).
